Gary S. Holt is a graduate from Central St Martins, and lives and works in Norfolk. Gary's work is primarily concerned with and produced through a sincere love of print media and interest in experimentation with his art form. His style is a fusion of familiar stylized details and a striking decorative colour palette.
The iconic imagery he uses as a starting point is often from composite illustrations-which is then worked on in collage form and then developed into hand printed limited edition screenprints, all in low editions of 20 or less. His style lends itself not only to decorative artworks but to rich interiors pieces such as hand printed lampshades.
This bright and stylish imagery has recently caught the eye of interiors clients and Gary is seeking to expand his creative reach to produce wallpapers and three dimensional works, along with some original one-off works which combine hand finished screenprinted elements with freehand drawing and collage. His recent body of work is a series of 6 prints on wood which are purposefully identical with the exception of one striking colour difference in each piece, this is a conscious interpretation of the viewers perceptions of edition and original and has allowed the artist to experience with printing onto a relatively new surface for him.
